Lisburn and Castlereagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), in partnership with the Education Authority, Lisburn YMCA, The Resurgam Trust, PSNI, and the Youth Justice Agency, hosted a successful ‘Keeping Yourself Safe’ event on Tuesday 21st October at Laurelhill Youth Centre, Lisburn.

The event brought together young people aged 14–16 from across Lisburn and Castlereagh for an evening focused on personal safety and awareness. Through interactive workshops and discussions, participants explored key topics such as Ending Violence Against Women and Girls, Drugs, Online Safety, and the consequences of their actions.

Councillor Alan Martin, Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh PCSP, said: “Our young people face new and complex challenges every day, both online and in their communities. Events like this give them the knowledge and confidence to make safe, informed choices.

“We are proud to work with our local partners to ensure that young people across Lisburn and Castlereagh feel supported and aware of how to keep themselves and others safe.”

Johnny Crymble, Senior Youth Officer, Education Authority Youth Service, said: “It’s vital that young people have the chance to share their views and experiences on the issues that affect them most. Events like this not only help them stay safe, but ensure their voices are heard and valued in shaping safer, more supportive communities.”

Lisburn and Castlereagh District Commander, Superintendent Kelly Moore, said: “It’s inspiring to see so many young people actively engaging in policing and community safety issues. Their energy and commitment help strengthen community connections, and we thank them for their valuable contributions to building a safer and more trusting future.”

The evening also provided a valuable opportunity for young people to engage directly with community safety representatives and local partners in a relaxed, informal setting.

Lisburn & Castlereagh PCSP would like to thank all partners and attendees for contributing to an engaging and impactful evening.
