The new business M-Power received a prize of £1,000 and secured their place in the regional final, which has a grand prize of £6,000.
M-Power is an App that will help those with menopause follow their journey and alleviate symptoms. It pairs with wearables.
The Ultimate Pitch competition provides entrepreneurs and early start ups with the opportunity to pitch for investment and support to get their business off the ground. It is part of the Go Succeed business support service for such individuals and organisations.
Local heats are taking place in each of Northern Ireland’s 11 council areas every week throughout October and November.
Emma Stephenson will represent Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council in the Regional Final at the Innovation Lab Belfast, on 21st November to coincide with Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Alderman Amanda Grehan, Chair of the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Regeneration & Growth Committee said: “Through the Go Succeed Ultimate Pitch competition we have identified and supported a whole cohort of residents to take the first step on their entrepreneurial journey. Ten inspirational entrepreneurs today pitched some fascinating and innovative business ideas, from technological and manufacturing innovations to businesses that will improve the health and wellbeing of others.
“Lisburn and Castlereagh already boasts a wealth of talent, creativity and innovation in entrepreneurship and enterprise. Through our council and our enterprise ecosystem, we have a range of support and services to assist the generation of new and emerging businesses.”
Other winners included SarahJane Reynolds of JKS Inclusion, who won the local inclusive entrepreneurship category, Gail Cook who secured the impact category and Emma Stephenson was chosen as the local ‘rising star’ category winner.
The public will also have their say as the 11 Ultimate Pitch finalists will also be in the running to win the ‘People’s Choice Award’ which gives them the chance to vote for their favourite pitch via Go Succeed’s social media channels.
Go Succeed (www.go-succeed.com) is funded by the UK Government and delivered by Northern Ireland’s 11 councils. The service supports entrepreneurs, new starts and existing businesses with easy-to-access advice and support including mentoring, master classes, peer networks, access to grant funding and a business plan, at every stage of their growth journey.
