Delve into the dark side of the festive season with Andrew Johnston of Alternative Ulstours as he weaves tales of superstition, terrifying beasts and mischievous spirits.
With winter comes shortened days and long, cold nights, and for centuries a rich folklore of mysterious tales has been passed down generations. Rooted in European winter folklore and ancient traditions, the myths, frequently told to keep children in line, often balance reward with discipline, warmth with warning, and light with dark.
Be entertained, thrilled and enlightened as Andrew shares stories from across Europe including of France’s sinister scarecrow Hans Trapp, Iceland’s hellacious Yule Cat, and the infamous Alpine Krampus. Perhaps the most striking, most unsettling, and strangely captivating, Krampus is thought of as the dark companion to Saint Nicholas.
We invite you, ‘Krampuskinder’ to an evening seasonal sermon with a difference!
