A committed team of young entrepreneurs from Friends’ School Lisburn is through to the national final of the UK Young Enterprise Business Awards.
Friends’ School Lisburn’s ‘Bottle Up’ secured top spot at the Young Enterprise Company of the Year earlier this year for their sustainable business idea.
We were delighted to have the opportunity to host this winning team at our headquarters, Lagan Valley Island, as they met the judging panel in London using its digi-conference facilities.
Bottle Up tackles plastic waste by creating handmade flowers from used plastic bottles. These stunning decorative pieces are in keeping with the council message of reduce, reuse and recycle.
Upcycling of common plastic waste products exemplifies the circular economy. Bottle Up’s floral creations are bespoke and exquisite decorative pieces that will look fantastic anywhere they are placed.
We are delighted the talent of Friends’ School Lisburn is being highlighted on the national stage. We wish Bottle Up every success in the final and would encourage its residents to consider these as alternatives to more traditional artificial flower arrays.
Young Enterprise is an annual scheme that encourages thousands of school pupils of all ages to set up and run their own businesses. It helps them gain valuable employability skills and an insight into entrepreneurship as a future career pathway.
The council supports the work of the charity Young Enterprise NI as it proactively sets the foundations for the next generation of entrepreneurs who are creative and resilient.
