We've launched a new community training calendar offering a range of free workshops and accredited courses for local community and voluntary groups!

The programme will run from April to June 2026 to help local organisations strengthen their skills, build confidence and continue delivering valuable activities and services within their communities.

The training calendar includes a diverse range of sessions covering topics like:

  • Emergency First Aid (adult and paediatric)
  • Makaton Level 1 Training
  • Food Hygiene & Safety Level 2
  • Committee Training: Roles and Responsibilities

Councillor Tim Mitchell, Chair of the Communities and Wellbeing Committee, said:

“Our community groups play a vital role in making Lisburn & Castlereagh a vibrant, connected, and supportive place to live. The launch of this new training calendar demonstrates the Council’s ongoing commitment to strengthening and empowering local organisations, ensuring they have the skills and resources needed to continue delivering high quality activities and services for residents across the area.

“We are pleased to offer this comprehensive programme of free support, designed to be both relevant and accessible. I encourage anyone interested to register early to secure their place. All sessions are provided at no cost and are open to members of community and voluntary groups.”

All sessions are open to members of community and voluntary groups operating within the Lisburn and Castlereagh area.
