Expressions of interest are now invited for consideration of award of financial assistance between £50k and £350k under Theme 1 of our Local PEACEPLUS Action Plan.

This theme, which focuses on capital projects, including reinvigorating already existing spaces, aims to deliver local community regeneration and transformation, promoting a more peaceful and inclusive society.

In order to be eligible to apply you must be a formally constituted community, voluntary and/or social enterprise organisations located in our area.  Other eligibility criteria apply and can be read in the full list contained in the guidance notes.

There is a total of £1.2m available for this theme which forms part of a much broader PEACEPLUS Local Community Action Plan.  Currently, the Lisburn & Castlereagh PEACEPLUS Partnership is developing this plan to access available funding of £3.8m to support priority cross community initiatives over the next three years.

The plan will result in improved, shared and inclusive local services, facilities and spaces, promoting a more peaceful and inclusive society.

Councillor Jonathan Craig, Chairman of the Lisburn & Castlereagh PEACEPLUS Partnership expressing his delight said: “This is a great opportunity to empower our local people to transform their areas on a cross-community basis. There’s a sizeable fund available which will make a huge difference to groups wanting to improve new and existing facilities and spaces. This investment will positively impact on shared provision, services and community cohesion across the council area.”

Projects supported can include developing capital projects and spaces, redeveloping existing facilities for shared usage to accommodate increased cross community services and interaction.

The transformation will improve community facilities offering services which help to increase the opportunity for cross community activity and interaction. Projects can include both capital investment and activity programmes (to animate the space once complete).

The ethos of this funding opportunity is to promote and enhance peacebuilding opportunities across our area.
