Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council welcomes the appointment of Stepping Stones to deliver its ‘Thrive’ programme. It aims to help 25 residents with a disability or health condition overcome challenges and get into employment.
Over 46 participants to date have received personal support to help identify their strengths and develop their skills under this theme.
Thrive is part of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Labour Market Partnership programme, which is funded by the Department for Communities. Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.
Alderman Amanda Grehan, Regeneration & Growth Chair said: “Partnership working is key to the successful delivery of projects and services. Through working with Stepping Stones we can offer opportunities to those who would like to work but believe they must overcome barriers. We want people to thrive regardless of their circumstances.
“As an inclusive city we want everyone to feel part of civic life in Lisburn and Castlereagh. It is important inclusion is weaved into workplace values, policies and procedures in organisations across our city.
“Those living with a disability or health condition should feel valued and able to contribute to our local economy. The Thrive programme can help with this, as proven when previous participants of this programme found it beneficial in meeting their job aspirations. I am confident our next intake will feel the same.”
The Thrive programme will once again offer a pathway into employment for Lisburn and Castlereagh residents of all ages. The criteria for applicants are they should be living with a disability or health condition and are currently unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week.
