At a meeting of LCCC’s Planning Committee today (Monday 9th March 2026), planning approvals were granted which will see around £75m invested across the council area, creating community, retail and sporting facilities as well as new housing.
Planning was approved for a neighbourhood centre consisting of two retail units, a community unit, and a petrol filling station, including four EV charging ports, services bay, ATM, cycle parking and car parking. It will be constructed on a site bordering Ballymaconaghy Road, Knockbracken Golf Centre and Laurelgrove Court.
Carryduff Primary School got the green light for a new synthetic sports pitch, including fencing and floodlighting.
Housing developments were approved in Lisburn and Castlereagh, including a residential development of 26 properties on a site between Brooke Hall and Brooke Hall Heights in Castlereagh.
In Lisburn, 75 new dwellings are to be constructed on the site of the former Charles Hurst Vauxhall dealership on the Belfast Road, and 119 new homes will be built on a site on the Ballinderry Road, situated between the Home Bargains store and Enterprise Crescent, previously used as agricultural land.
Alderman James Tinsley, Planning Committee Chair said: “I welcome the approval for these developments which will positively enhance communities across the Lisburn & Castlereagh Council area. I would like to give thanks for the work of the council officers, agents and statutory agencies which allowed these applications to proceed in an efficient and timely manner.”
Subject to section 76 agreements, these developments will align strongly with LCCC’s Local Development Plan, which encourages sustainable development, including housing growth, and supports quality design, the creation of quality environments, and developments which complement and enhance the existing area.
