Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has announced a funding package of over £565K to support community and voluntary sector projects across the council area.
The investment will enable local communities to lead and deliver a wide range of grass root projects to build stronger, more engaged neighbourhoods.
Two separate funds have been announced. £540K is being made available through the Community Facilities Fund (CFF) which provides funding for projects focused on community facility upgrades, event infrastructure and sports pitch maintenance/development.
£25,000 is also being made available through the council’s Good Relations Fund which provides financial assistance for projects that bring people together across cultural, religious, and political divides fostering inclusion, dialogue, and understanding.
Councillor Jonathan Craig, Chair of the council’s Leisure & Community Wellbeing Committee said: “Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is committed to empowering communities to take action on issues right on their doorstep, driving meaningful change to build a better future for themselves and their neighbours.
We provide a variety of support, including funding opportunities and training programs to enhance the skills and capacity of groups working within their local areas. These efforts are part of a broader range of initiatives outlined in our Community Plan, which focuses on addressing the unique needs of community, voluntary, and sporting groups in Northern Ireland. The aim is to help these groups implement projects that bring about tangible, long-lasting benefits for local residents.”
