Ending Violence Against Women and Girls
Ending Violence Against Women and Girls
Momentum Funding has been provided by The Executive Office (TEO) to Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council as part of the wider Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) Strategic Framework, which focuses on tackling the root causes of violence and harm through prevention and education. This funding is a new initiative aimed at supporting local efforts to raise awareness and prevent violence against women and girls.
The fund offers £20,000 in grants to support community, voluntary, sporting, and faith-based organisations in the Lisburn & Castlereagh area. Grants ranging from £1,500 to £5,000 will be awarded to projects that raise awareness of EVAWG, build capacity within communities, and promote key prevention outcomes, including:
- Changing attitudes, behaviours, and culture that perpetuate violence.
- Promoting healthy and respectful relationships.
- Ensuring women and girls feel and are safe everywhere.
The Council is particularly keen to support innovative and impactful projects, such as community workshops, training sessions, or creative campaigns, that align with the EVAWG Strategic Framework. Examples could include hosting educational events, partnering with expert organisations like Women’s Aid, to spread key messages about prevention and support services.
All funded projects must be completed by the end of March 2025. The Momentum Fund is a precursor to the Change Fund, which will open for applications on 24 January 2025 and focus on larger-scale initiatives for the 2025/26 financial year.
