We have a Child and Adults at Risk Safeguarding Policy, which applies to all employees, elected members, volunteers, contractors, grant-aided organisations and those using our facilities irrespective of their function, remit or role.
Safeguarding is any activity which prevents harm from occurring or protects individuals who have been harmed; the safeguarding policy reinforces our commitment to zero tolerance to any form of abuse.
The policy covers areas from recruitment and vetting of personal to training and reporting concerns to codes of conduct.

Domestic violence/abuse
Domestic violence/abuse is a crime. It is socially harmful and disruptive and can impinge on work attendance and performance and ultimately health and wellbeing.
The Domestic and Sexual Abuse helpline is open to women and men affected by domestic abuse or violence. This free telephone service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Phone: 0808 802 1414 (Freephone)
Email: help@dsahelpline.org
We are a Safe Employer so victims of domestic abuse/violence will be assisted.
Throughout the council area there are Safe Places premises. A sticker is displayed prominently. Within these victims of domestic abuse/violence can access contact numbers from which they may seek professional advice or assistance.
