Local Economic Partnership Action Plan

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has a strong and committed Local Economic Partnership, with members that bring a wide range of perspectives and expertise. The Partnership has invested significant time and effort to shape a clear, deliverable LEP Action Plan for this council area.

This plan sets out an ambitious programme focused on driving productivity, supporting business growth, and contributing to regional economic balance, aligned with the Department for the Economy’s strategic priorities as outlined in its Sub-Regional Economic Plan. It aims to unlock local productivity, strengthen infrastructure, and accelerate green and digital transformation, delivering tangible outcomes that support a more inclusive, competitive, and sustainable Northern Ireland economy.

Key elements of the Action Plan include:
 

Trade Programmes with the EU, the Republic of Ireland and GB, designed to generate new opportunities, enhance productivity, and support SMEs to scale through market diversification.

A dual approach to green growth and decarbonisation: an SME-focused Green Growth Business Support Programme to improve efficiency and reduce costs, alongside an Industrial Decarbonisation Cluster Project building on previous Invest NI work with high-value, energy-intensive companies to reduce emissions and support the transition to net zero.

The development of modern industrial space for growing businesses: to support scaling businesses, providing high-quality, innovative space that meets market demand and underpins long-term economic growth.

The Local Economic Partnership has a real opportunity to make a meaningful difference, supporting inclusive economic growth for Lisburn & Castlereagh and contributing positively to the wider regional economy.
