Mayor’s Colour Run

Our team organise a Colour Run on behalf of the Mayor and their nominated charity each year.  It takes place in April or May.

LCCC Sport Lisburn and Castlereagh Sports Awards 2025

Sport Lisburn & Castlereagh has paid tribute to local sporting talent during the 2025 Sports Awards supported by Drayne’s Farm. The annual event took place on Friday 14 November at a prestigious ceremony at La Mon Hotel and Country Club.
The event shined a spotlight on inspirational young people with an interview from special guest CBBC and multi-talented star Cara Mailey.
Broadcaster, Lynette Fay hosted the evening and helped showcase the amazing achievements and motivational stories behind each award winner. The winners included:

  • School Sports Team of the Year - Wallace High School Boys’ Rugby 1st XV Rugby Team
  • Junior Sports Personality of the Year – Paige Nickels
  • Junior Sports Club of the Year - Lisburn Cricket Club U13 Boys Team
  • Alison Slater Junior Merit Award - Mia Rooney
  • David Edwards Senior Merit Award – Malachy Kearney, Adrian Williams, Jennifer McCormick and Sathish Kumar Manohar
  • Disability Sports Personality of the Year – Siomha Brady
  • Disability Sports Team of the Year – Carryduff Colts Inclusion Football Team
  • Senior Sports Club of the Year - Lisburn Rugby Club Women’s 1st XV Team
  • Sports Club of the Year - St. Patrick’s Lisburn Gaelic Athletic Club
  • Sports Coach of the Year - John Kennedy
  • Senior Sports Personality of the Year - Sean Lavery

Santa Dash

The magical Santa Dash will be making a sparkling return to Lough Moss Leisure Centre on Friday 12th December.

The entry fee is £5 and will include your very own Santa hat, a medal and a hot chocolate as you cross the finish line.

All proceeds from the Santa Dash will go directly to the Mayors chosen charity.

And the fun doesn’t stop there! After the Dash, step into our brand-new Winter Wonderland Experience, featuring:

  • DJ entertainment
  • A giant magical snow globe
  • A 3D bouncy castle
  • Festive face painting
  • A visit to Santa in his enchanting grotto
  • Plus a neurodivergent-friendly Santa experience from 6:30pm

Sports Club Games

These are a great team building opportunity for businesses across Lisburn & Castlereagh!

The challenge includes a wide range of activities, including dodgeball, pickleball and tenpin bowling. Games are open to everyone and suitable for all levels of fitness.

At each game stage there will be Cup and Plate winners with the ‘Sports Club Champions’ being crowned at the end of all three stages.

Applications for the 2026 games will open in January 2026. Please keep an eye out on the Be Active Stay Active Facebook page for updates.

 

Training courses for sports clubs and coaches

Local sports clubs and coaches can benefit from a timetable of specialised training courses taking place each financial year. These courses will equip clubs with the skills to develop their organisation and get the best out of their players and athletes.

Course Descriptions

Autism and Sports Coaching Training Course In-person Course (2.5 hours)

This course provides sports coaches and physical activity leaders with an introduction to planning and delivering sessions that are inclusive of people with Autism.  The course will provide a combination of theoretical and practical advice on suitable activities and approaches to fully include participants with Autism in your given sport.

First Aid in Sport In-person Course (4 hours)

This course covers elements of First Aid applicable to anyone who is responsible for coaching/supervising a team/individuals.  The certificate is valid for 3 years and includes:

  • Role and responsibilities of the sports first aider
  • Unresponsive adult 
  • Adult CPR
  • Safe use of an AED
  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries
  • Head injuries
  • Managing a casualty outdoors
  • Minor injuries, stings and grazes.

Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Online Virtual Workshop (2.5 Hours Virtual Workshop and mandatory 30 minutes pre-learning required)

This workshop aims to raise awareness of child safeguarding issues in sport and introduces participants to what is good practice for children’s sport and how to report any concern. This workshop is important for all adults involved in children’s sport, but is essential for Coaches, Leaders, Administrators, and Officials. The workshop has mandatory pre-learning which must be undertaken before attending the workshop.  A Zoom link will be shared in advance via email for all those taking part in online courses.

Designated Safeguarding Children’s Officer Training In-person Workshop (3 hours)

This workshop aims to support those undertaking the role of Designated Safeguarding Children’s Officer including the importance of creating a culture where good practice is the norm; how to respond in a range of situations or concerns; and how to implement safeguarding standards within a club environment.
